New York, New York

Choosing my first stop as the Timeshare Ambassador was a no brainer. The city that never sleeps, the Big Apple, "If I can make it here…" well, you get the picture. They don't call this the greatest city in the world for nothing. You know they got a fella over in Times Square who stands out in the street playing a guitar wearing nothing but a cowboy hat and his tighty whities? They call him the Naked Cowboy, and man he must be cold! Hope he doesn't break a g-string, if you know what I mean. And how about this $175 hamburger at The Wall Street Burger Shoppe? Are you kidding me?! You gotta love New York. I know I do.

During my stay here in Gotham I will be renting a timeshare at the Manhattan Club on W. 56th Street. This is a first class experience from the moment you enter the front door: concierge staff, private lounge, fitness center, business center, valet parking, wood paneled and marbled lobby, the works. It's no wonder it is a perennial favorite among RedWeek.com owners and travelers alike. Some of our reviewers feel the units are a bit smaller than what they have experienced at other resorts, and I'd have to agree. But in Manhattan it's all about "location, location, location," and this one is 5-stars in my book. Fifty feet in any direction from the front door, and you are in a "New York State of Mind," whatever that means.

If you haven't yet made plans for Spring Break, New York is especially beautiful this time of year. I see right now on RedWeek.com, you can rent a timeshare at the Manhattan Club for as little as $186 a night. If you are looking to buy, resale units start for as little as $3,000.

Well, I'm gonna "Take the A Train" on down to Kat'z Deli on Houston St. I hear they've got a pastrami sandwich the size of a throw pillow, and you know I'm gonna get involved with one of those. I wonder if they'll give me a T-shirt if I finish it?

Introducing the Timeshare Ambassador

Hey folks, Seymour DeSytes here. The good folks over at RedWeek.com have dispatched me on a mission to spread the word about the benefits of timeshare travel, sniff out the best deals on timeshare rentals, resales, and exchanges, and report back with some stories "from the road". Sort of like that Charles Kuralt fellow used to do on CBS, minus the motor home and secret mistress. Hmmm, maybe that's not the best analogy, but you get the idea: the open road, the friendly skies, and great timeshare destinations. Think of me as your "Timeshare Ambassador".

Since timeshare stays are typically weekly affairs, I'll be filing my dispatches every Monday. Each week will find me in a different part of the world, telling travelers about the benefits of timeshare travel vs. typical hotels, highlighting particular resorts, and even pointing out some great timeshare deals on RedWeek.com that you may have missed. And to get you involved, I am going to post a "Where's Seymour" photo once a month. The first person chosen at random who can correctly identify my location will win a free RedWeek.com Membership or some other fun prize.

Well, I have to run now and pack my bags for my first adventure. This ambassador business is going to be harder than you might think. I wonder if I'll need a top hat? Anyway, I've got lots of great locations in mind and can't wait to get started. Stay tuned…
